Street Improvements: Traffic Revision Concept at Meadow Road and DeKoven - 2007

Summary: This proposal was to change the lane pattern at the intersections of Meadow & DeKoven at Brook Lane. The proposal as-submitted would have little or no impact on existing utilities & their right of ways, nor would it change pedestrian walkways. The proposal seeks to simply slow, not impede traffic through the area.  The proposal seeks to add green space, beautify the area and improve safety both for vehicles, pedestrians and our neighborhood's children.

The proposal has been presented to the city staff for review and was met with approval by staff and engineers reviewing the details. The proposal was approved by the  Citizens Transportation Review Committee.  Many residents supported the proposal, with about 15 neighbors closest to the area signing a petition to the city supporting the traffic change.

Since the project was implemented volunteers have donated money and hundreds of hours of labor to improve and maintain the area on an ongoing basis.  A huge Frazier River granite boulder was brought as was a full commercial truck load of river rock and other landscaping materials, trees and plants.  In addition the area was selected for a rain garden project which brought more improvements and volunteer labor to the location.  The area continues to me maintained and improved as time and resources allow.
